The parish of Craigs was first listed by the 1861 Census of Ireland; it does not appear in the 1851 reports. "Craigs, par., W. co. Antrim, on river Maine, 5 miles NW. of Ballymena, 12,365 ac., pop. 6673" (John Bartholomew, Gazetteer of the British Isles (1887)).
