Here we are presenting statistics for a historical unit, which may have changed its boundaries significantly during the period covered.
A footnote to the 1851 Townlands Index (p.914) says "This new Parish is composed of the following eleven Townlands, viz.: Ballyquin, Carrick East, and Maine South, from Balteagh Parish, page 234; Carrick and Templemoyle, from Bovevagh Parish, page 235; Ballyderg, Ballymore, Largy, Moys, Mulkeeragh, and Terrydrum, from Tamlaght-Finlagan Parish, pages 237 and 238." The page numbers refer to the 1851 report for County Londonderry, where Carrick is not listed, so the parish was created sometime between 1851 and the publication of the Index in 1861.
