Notes:

In the Devonport & Stoke Damerel entries in Youngs' it is indicated the Plymouth Docks ExP became Devonport CP in 1824. Lewis' Topographical Dictionary of England (1848) says "Plymouth Dock" was given the name "Devonport" in 1824 by the King. However, this unit does not appear in the Census or the Registrar General's Annual Reports or on administrative maps after that date - Stoke Damerel continues until the 1890s. Youngs' actual entry for Plymouth Docks does not mention a civil parish status. Plymouth Archives said "We use the Youngs Administrative Guide to inform our knowledge of the area and I am not able to add anything" (Anne Morgan, Archivist, 25/03/2014). This unit has been altered to correspond to the 1901 Census information indicating Stoke Damerel parish was renamed on 9th November 1898 under Local Government Board Order P.1432. Youngs' abolition of the parish in 1888 to become part of Devonport CP has been removed as no supporting evidence has been discovered for this event.
