In 1887, John Bartholomew's Gazetteer of the British Isles described Milber like this:
Milber Down, 1½ mile E. of Newton Abbot, Devon; has 2 ancient camps, 1 square and 1 circular; here the army of William of Orange encamped in November 1688.
