Place:

Grangerosnolvan  County Kildare

In 1837, Samuel Lewis's Topographical Dictionary of Ireland described Grangerosnolvan like this:

GRANGEROSNOLVIN, a parish, in the barony of KILKEA and MOONE, county of KILDARE, and province of LEINSTER, 3 miles (S. W.) from Ballytore, on the road from Kilcullen to Castledermot; containing 114 inhabitants. It comprises 1377 statute acres, as applotted under the tithe act, and valued at £615 per annum. ...

A nunnery is traditionally stated to have existed here, but there are no traces of it. It is a rectory and vicarage, in the diocese of Dublin, forming part of the union of Castledermot: the tithes amount to £75. In the R. C. divisions also it is part of the union or district of Castledermot.
