In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Westfa like this:
WESTFA, a hamlet in Llanelly parish, Carmarthen; near Llanelly. Real property, £3,284; of which £26 are in mines, £8 in quarries, and £40 in railways. Pop. in 1851, 1,094; in 1861, 1,511. Houses, 289. The increase of pop. arose from the extension of the coal, iron, tin, and copper trades.
The location is the house, just north east of Felin Foel, marked as "Westfa" on the Ordnance Survey 1:2,500 map of 1878-80 included in the old-maps.co.uk web site (accessed 6 Nov 2011; see also http://llanelli-history.co.uk/houses_westfa.htm, accessed 6 Nov 2011). However, Westfa was one of the five hamlets into which Llanelli parish was sub-divided. Additional information about this locality is available for Llanelli
