Place:

Clawddmadog  Brecknockshire

In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Clawddmadog like this:

CLAWDD-MADOG, a hamlet in Llanwrtyd parish, Brecon; 13 miles W of Builth. It contains the Llanwrtyd wells, and the villages of Bout and Pontrhydyfere. Real property, £818. Pop., 287. Houses, 57.

The location is half way between the old village of Llanwrtyd and the modern village of Llanwrtyd Wells, formerly Pont-rhyd-y-feri, as these are two of the settlements named by the Imperial Gazetteer as within Clawddmadog. The name has yet to be found on a topographic map, despite a search of old large scale maps of the Llanwrtyd area on old-maps.co.uk. Additional information about this locality is available for Llanwrtyd
