Place:

Bryncrug  Merionethshire

In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Bryncrug like this:

PONTFATHEW, a village in Gwyddalfynydd township, Towyn parish, Merioneth; 2 miles from Towyn. It has a post-office under Machynlleth, Montgomeryshire.

Pontfathew, i.e. bridge over the Fathew, would seem to be an earlier name for Bryncrug.
