In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Trecastle like this:
TRECASTLE, a hamlet in Llandilo-fawr parish, Carmarthen; near Llandilo-fawr. Real property, £1,153. Pop., 378.
The location is that of "Maes-Evan", as marked on the modern 1:25,000 map. The name "Trecastle" has not been located on a topographic map, but according to the 1851 census "Measivan" was within "Trecastle" (http://www.a-glamorgan-family.com/LlewelynBevan.html, accessed 7/3/2011). A more reliable location is needed.
