In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described North Forty Foot Bank like this:
NORTH-FORTY-FOOT-BANK, an extra-parochial tract in Boston district, Lincoln; 9 miles N W of Boston. Acres, 3, 990. Pop., 300. Houses, 68.
Based on the 1888 Diagram of Sanitary Districts in Liconlnshire, this tract appears to have consisted entirely of the banks of the North Forty Foot Drain, so it was a narrow strip about six miles long; the location used here is about midway.
