In 1887, John Bartholomew's Gazetteer of the British Isles described Kinfauns like this:

Kinfauns, par. and ry. sta., in co. and 3¾ miles SE/ of Perth, on river Tay, 4291 ac., pop. 583; Kinfauns Castle, a stately Gothic edifice of 1822, is on the site of the ancient castle of the Charteris family.
