SWAINSTHORPE, a parish, with a r. station, in Henstead district, Norfolk; on the Great Eastern railway, 4¼ miles SSW of Norwich. Post town, Stoke Holy Cross, under Norwich. Acres, 821. Real property, £1,589. Pop. in 1861, 338; of whom 91 were in Henstead workhouse. Houses, 44. The property is divided among five. The living is a rectory, united with Newton-Flotman, in the diocese of Norwich. Value, £630.* Patron, R. K. Long, Esq. The church is good; and there was anciently another church.
