BINEGAR, a parish in Shepton-Mallet district, Somerset; at the eastern end of the Mendip hills, 4 miles N of Shepton-Mallet r. station, and 5 NW of Wells. Post Town, Shepton-Mallet. Acres, 1,216. Rated property, £1,949. Pop., 309. Houses, 70. The property is subdivided. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Bath and Wells. Value, not reported. Patron, the Bishop of Bath and Wells. The church was rebuilt in 1859. A fair is held on the Wednesday and Thursday of Whitsun-week.
