The village stands in a valley of the Wolds, 4 miles W by S of Thoresby r. station, and 8½ S S W of Great Grimsby; and has a post-office under Grimsby. The parish comprises 2,060 acres. Real property, £2, 981. Pop., 189. Houses, 31. The manor belongs to the Earl of Yarborough. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Lincoln. Value, £476.* Patron, the Bishop of Lichfield. The church stands on an eminence, was rebuilt in 1862, and is in the early English style. There are a Primitive Methodist chapel, and a national school.
