Descriptive Gazetteer Entry for OXFORD

OXFORD, a liberty in the centre of Oxfordshire; con-terminate with the extra-parochial tract of Blenheim. Acres, 2, 940. Pop. in 1851, 93; in 1861, 118. Houses, 22. Binsey and Woodstock parishes were formerly regarded as in the liberty; but, in the census of 1851 and in that of 1861, Binsey was returned as part of Oxfordcity, and Woodstock as part of Wootton hundred.
