Descriptive Gazetteer Entry for SARN-GYNFELYN

SARN-GYNFELYN, a shoal or reef in Cardigan bay; running from the shore of the N of Cardiganshire, at a point 3 miles N of Aberystwith. It is about 7 miles long; is, in part, about ¼ of a mile wide, in part, about 2 miles wide; is partly left dry at ebb tide; is flanked by depths of from 2 to 5 fathoms water; was the southernpart of the submerged Cantref-Gwaelod; and is believed to include remains of a Roman road.
