Capenoch, an estate, with a modern mansion, in Keir parish, W Dumfriesshire, on the right bank of Shinnel Water, 3¼ miles WSW of Thornhill. From the Griersons it came by marriage to the Kirkpatricks of Closeburn in the first half of the 17th century; its present owner, Thos. Steuart Gladstone, Esq. (b. 1805), holds 1302 acres in the shire, valued at £1257 per annum.
