Broomhill, a property of about 8 acres, with a large mansion, at the mutual boundary of Stirlingshire and Dumbartonshire, 1¼ mile ENE of the meeting-point with Lanarkshire, on the river Kelvin, adjacent to the Campsie railway, 1½ mile N by E of Kirkintilloch. It was purchased, in 1875, for £14,000, to be occupied by incurables; and plans were formed both to enlarge its mansion for the occupancy of patients, and to erect upon it several cottage homes.
