BURE (The), a river of Norfolk. It rises near Hindolveston, and runs about 42 miles, south-eastward, past Aylsham and Acle, to the Yare at Yarmouth. It receives the Ant and the Thone in the marshes above and at Acle; and is navigable to Aylsham.
