Descriptive Gazetteer Entry for HAYLE, or HEYL (THE)

HAYLE, or HEYL (THE), a river of the SW of Cornwall. It rises near Crowan; runs about 6 miles westward, and about 4 north-north-westward; and falls into the head of St. Ives bay. About 2¾ miles of it are tidal.
