Aranmore, or Inishmore, par., designated Aran, consisting of the largest island in bar. Aran, co. Galway, 7635 ac., pop. 2193; P.O. The island measures 9 miles by 2 miles; greatest elevation less than 400 ft.; the precipitous cliffs on S. side are the resort of multitudes of sea-fowl; a lighthouse rises from its centre.
