Mayfield.-- (or Mathfield), par., township, and vil., Staffordshire, on E. border of co.- par., 3760 ac., pop. 1529; township, 1820 ac., pop. 1215; vil., on river Dove, 2 miles SW. of Ashborne; P.O., T.O.; in vicinity of vil. is Mayfield Hall, seat; at Mayfield is the cottage in which Moore composed Lalla Rookh.
