(containing town of Portsoy), 17,198 ac., pop. 4289; vil., on Bum of Fordyce, 2½ miles SW. of Portsoy, pop. 331; P.O.; the vil. has been a burgh of barony since 1499; Fordyce Academy was founded and endowed in 1790; in S. vicinity of vil. is Fordyce Hill, alt. 580 ft.
