Holywood, seaport town, township, and par., with ry. sta., N. co. Down, on Belfast Lough, 4½ miles NE. of Belfast - par., 8297 ac., pop. 9600; township, 361 ac., pop. 3293; P.O., T.O., 1 Bank; is a favourite resort of the people of Belfast for sea-bathing. On Holywood Bank, in Belfast Lough, is an occulting light (Belfast Bay) 27 ft. above high water and seen 5 miles.
