Creetown, small seaport with ry. sta., W. Kirkcudbrightshire, at head of Wigtown Bay, 6½ miles SE. of Newton-Stewart, pop. 979; P.O., T.O.; in the vicinity are valuable granite quarries. The neighbourhood is the scene of part of Guy Mannering; Dirk Hatteraick's cave is on the coast, 5 miles SE.
