Noss, island, Bressay par., Shetland, pop. 3; is separated by a narrow sound from Bressay island; is 1½ mile long, and has a comparatively fertile soil; on Noss Head is a lighthouse 68 ft. high, with a revolving light (Noss Head) 175 ft. above high water and seen 18 miles; off the E. coast of the island is the Noup of Noss, a precipitous rock 592 ft. high; on the SE. side is the HOLM OF NOSS: which see.
