Annan, river, Dumfries-shire; rising on the Moffat Hills in N. of co., near the sources of the Clyde and Tweed, it flows S. to the Solway Firth 1¾ mile below Annan, and is in all 49 miles long. Its chief tributaries are the Evan, Moffat, Kinnel, Dryfe, Milk, Mein, and Wamphray.
