Locharbriggs, a village in the N of Dumfries parish, Dumfriesshire, near the right bank of Lochar Water, with a station on the Dumfries and Lockerbie section of the Caledonian railway, 2¾ miles NNE of Dumfries. It adjoins a rising-ground, which superstition long regarded as a trysting-place of witches. Pop. (1881) 306.
