Descriptive Gazetteer Entry for Hirst

Hirst, a hill (959 feet) in Shotts parish, NE Lanarkshire, on the watershed between the Clyde and the Forth, 1¼ mile E by N of the parish church. It emits, from its E side, the head-stream of the Almond; and its summit commands a very extensive view.
