Elliot Water, a stream of SE Forfarshire, rising at an altitude of 550 feet above sea-level in the W of Carmyllie parish, and running 8 miles east-south-eastward through or along the borders of Carmyllie and Arbirlot, till -it falls into the German Ocean, near Elliot Junction, 11/2 mile SW of Arbroath. Its banks, at the mansion of Guynd, picturesque by nature, have been highly adorned by art; and its steep wooded dell below Arbirlot village has many memories of Dr Guthrie, and presents an interesting relic of the past in the grey old tower of Kelly Castle.—Ord.
